exhibition date / 18-19 Apr 2008 Re-collection was a project that started
from December 2007 till April 2008. There were a series of flyers that were posted in New York City and San Francisco, Bay Area, to create an anonymous dialogue between the flyer and the pedestrian, the maker and the spectator, the private and the public. The flyers, contained nondescript statements derived from personal thoughts (for example, one set read,“I remember every word you said to me. 646-607-5550”) Recieved voicemails were edited and reassembled into a new whole, creating a sonic patchwork of public response and a constructed dialogue between the participants. By revisiting and recycling, the messages take on new meaning: they are no longer individualized reactions; they are redefined as parts of a whole. Each caller becomes a recontextualized fragment of a broader realm, extensions of personal thoughts in a universal forum.
Sharing a spec of space with re-collection's exhibition I have nothing and everything to say to you, no museum presented 5 I have nothing and everything to say to you gummi bears as an installation to celebrate the success of re-collection's anonymous dialogue. Outside the re-collection exhibition space 5 gummie bears were placed along with a recording piece of re-collection. The gummie bears attracted the attention of the viewers to a small(hidden) tape recorder. The sound that was played were the questions from the flyers that re-collection had posted.

re-installation: online from 12 Apr 2008
The project started from questioning sound and the location of the listener.
Does sound exist if no one is there to hear it?
Does art exist if no one is there to see it?
In collaboration with Echo Universe, a designer and artist that uses environmental sound as a premise to his work, no museum built an exhibition in the middle of Chelsea on 06 April, Sunday from 11AM-3PM. As a collaborator and affiliating artist of no museum, Echo Universe installed a participatory installation to be included on his upcoming ambient music cd "Song from Urban Environments".
The exhibition took on two parts in the end. The first part: sound installation in chelsea with brocures and museum labels, the second part: re-installation of the first part. The sound including the ambience and people's reaction was recorded and was reproduced through Echo Universe' mandalas as a "re-installation". To view the second part, please visit here.

"no museum" planned a lively, moving exhibition during the weekend March 16-17, inside a physical museum, the Museum of Modern Art.
This was an unofficial proposal of the current exhibition that was held in Moma the "Color Chart: Reinventing Color, 1950 to Today". Maybe under a similar approach with Daniel Buren's striped vest pieces, our goal was to explore ways of viewing thousands of different "no museum blues" by the interaction of light, shadow and movement inside a specific location with the interface--blue clothing, blue shoes, blue accessories from visitors of all over the world. "no museum" was thrilled to share the marvelous location with Museum of Modern Art. We were also excited to give out an experience that shifts the focal point back and forth from art to the viewer. By wearing any shade of blue to the Museum of Modern Art on the weekend of 16-17 Mar, participants became an art piece while viewing art.

"Where does no museum exist?"
Instead of answering the question, no museum presented an online platform asking "where is your no museum?" Many no museum members presented their answers and it also became a fun guest book filled with word games on digital space.

5th Floor Digital Imaging Center Room 506, 507, 508, 510 there is a temporary student temp server where students save their file while they work at the computer lab. Files that are ready to be thrown away everyweek reborns as a collection of the exhibition "accidentall waterfall" by relocating the files into a specific folder called no museum. The collection of files were randomly chosen by the "no museum" curator group. There was an opening event on February 22nd, 3pm in front of the main building of School of Visual arts.
The title came from the moment of accidentally discovering inspiration by shifting through unknown chunck of files created by anonymous students. The temporary files which were pieces of process, research, sketches becomes to hold a different role as one of a collection of art, when it gets copied to no museum folder. The exhibition was held from February 22 to March 20. The collection itself was very flexible and temporary. The files were moved around, edited and added by various student participants and no museum curator group. There was a tutorial movie showing an example of one student viewing the exhibition.
For the opening event the idea behind the exhibition was expressed as an abstract form and was performed on February 22, 3PM for 11 minutes.
Video of 11 minute banner celebrating the exhibition "accidental waterfall" that was held on the window of the computer lab.
